Pure silk chiffon bias ribbon, 25mm (1") wide, sold by the metre.  The featherlight chiffon (6 momme, 26g sq.m) is imported from Germany and dyed in Italy by DHG to Oeko-Tex Standard 100.

Please note that a bias cut ribbon always has splices along its length, and these occur at approximately 2.5m intervals.  This is not a defect and you should expect your ribbon length to have splices, even if you order one metre.  There is an image in the gallery which shows a splice.

The bias cut gives superb drape and a slight stretch.  The edge of the ribbon is not bound, and there may be some feathering along the edge caused by the cutting process.  It is ideal for wedding invitations, place cards, bridal accessories and bouquets and creates an elegant finishing touch to any package.  It can also be used in nuno felting, eco printing and batik.  

A few things you should know before you purchase …

*  The actual colour of the ribbon may vary from that shown on your monitor;

*  I will always endeavour to supply the ribbon as a continuous length, up to a maximum of 20m.  However, continuity is not always possible for orders between 12m and 20m, which may be supplied as two lengths;

*  Silk is a natural fibre, and there may be small imperfections in the weave;

*  Before dyeing, the ribbon should be soaked for 30 minutes in warm water to which Synthrapol (or a similar product) has been added.  This will remove any fabric finish that could inhibit take-up of the dye.
