Pure silk habotai ribbon, in three widths - 2mm, 4mm and 7mm - in 5m to 40m packs.

Habotai silk, woven from 100% Mulberry silk thread, has a smooth finish and a lustrous surface sheen. It is soft to handle and has a fluid drape which makes it ideal for bouquet streamers and wedding invitations.

Habotai is prized for its ability to take dye.  Before dyeing, prepare a large bowl of hand-hot water to which Synthrapol (or a similar product) has been added.  Soak the ribbon for an hour, occasionally agitating gently, to remove any fabric finish that could inhibit take-up of the dye.  To avoid disappointment, always create a sample before dyeing a long length, and repeat the soak if necessary.

A few things you should know before you purchase ...

• Lengths greater than 20m may not be supplied as a running length because of spooling limitations. If you require a greater running length, please make contact before ordering to make sure spooling is possible;
• Silk is a natural fibre, and there may be small irregularities in the weave.
