Woven in Margilan, one of the most ancient cities in Uzbekistan, Gauze is a lightweight silk (10g per square metre) that has a high lustre which it maintains after dyeing.  It is around 60cm wide and is ideal for nuno felted scarves because fine fibres cling easily, producing small peaks on the surface. 

A few things you should know before you purchase …

• All quoted weights and measurements are approximate;
• The silk has a slightly uneven weave; sometimes threads on the weft are bunched  or distorted. This is not a fault, it is part of the charm of Margilan silk.  Customers that require a flawless finish are advised to use Habotai or Pongee silk;
• A constant width is not maintained along the length - it varies between 60-63cm.
