Margilan Silk | Gauze | 10g sq.m | 65cm Wide | Metre
Woven in Margilan, one of the most ancient cities in Uzbekistan, Gauze is a lightweight silk (10g per square metre) that has a high lustre which it maintains after dyeing. It is around 65cm wide and is ideal for nuno felted scarves because fine fibres cling easily, producing small peaks on the surface.
A few things you should know before you purchase …
- All quoted weights and measurements are approximate;
- The silk has a slightly uneven weave; sometimes threads on the weft are bunched or distorted. This is not a fault, it is part of the charm of Margilan silk. Customers that require a flawless finish are advised to use Habotai or Pongee silk;
- A constant width is not maintained along the length - it varies between 63-67cm.
